Joanne Matthews – Family Law Partner

Joanne Matthews - Family Law PartnerI am a Family Law Partner and I head the firm’s Family Law work. Accredited by the Law Society and by Resolution, I help sort out what can be complex issues involving the care of your children, your home and your finances.

I have specialised in family law for over 20 years and understand the emotions and vulnerabilities felt by clients at what can be a very difficult time.

Clients say that I am approachable and understanding.

When you first come to see me, we will discuss your situation and requirements. I will give you the information you need to understand the options available to you and the likely associated costs, so that you can decide how and when to proceed.

You will not have to make any decisions immediately – unless it is necessary to take urgent steps to safeguard your or a child’s personal safety.

As a member of Resolution, I attempt to conduct matters in a constructive and non-confrontational way.

I am often able to reach agreement on your behalf, avoiding Court proceedings and around 85% of family matters are resolved this way. Going to Court is always an option if agreement cannot be reached.

Where children are involved in divorce and separation cases, I work to minimise conflict and reduce the impact of separation and divorce on children.

lawsociety-family-lawAs a member of the Law Society Family Law Accreditation Scheme, you can be assured that I have and will maintain a high level of knowledge, skills and experience in the area of family law.

I am one of only two accredited Resolution specialists for children and complex financial cases in the town.

“As Family Law Secretary, I am the first point of contact for clients – arranging appointments and telephone conferences and generally keeping all parties up to date on what’s happening. Whilst Family law can be complex and challenging at times,  it can so be rewarding and I very much enjoy helping families to resolve their issues in the best possible way.”
