David studied Law at Leeds University and graduated with an LLB. Following his “articles” with a Cambridge firm and a spell with another local firm where he was responsible for the day-to-day litigation management, David set up this firm with Robin Burnett on 1st September 1979.

David is a member of:

  • the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers,
  • Lawyers for Your Business,
  • the Law Society Professional Negligence Panel,
  • Solicitors for the Elderly

David is our Litigation Partner and has almost 30 years experience as a solicitor. He deals with contractual and corporate disputes as well as employment, property, and business disputes. He acts on High Court and County Court matters, Tribunal cases and personal injury claims.

With a broad base of experience and legal expertise, David’s resolution and litigation practice extends to property disputes and contract based claims ranging from the supply of goods and services, title to commercial property and goods and service charges. His employment experience embraces defending claims for unfair dismissal, redundancy and harassment.

A large part of his work involves advising clients on sound approaches to the dispute, drawing on his litigation knowledge. Coupled with this is his advisory work: interpreting and providing advice on contractual documentation and risk management - assessing whether legal proceedings should be commenced - and if they are, the key issues and risks that need to be overcome and dealt with; or indeed whether a legal claim exists at all.

David has been Vice Chair of the Bury St Edmunds Citizens’ Advice Bureau; Chairman of Bury St Edmunds Farmers Club and a school governor of two local schools. He is currently a member of Elmswell Parish Council where he has served as Chairman for the past five years.
